Facebook moves into a new Strip District office as its researchers imagine a future without office buildings
Chuck Hoover gazed out the large conference room window of Facebook’s newly opened District 15 in the Strip District at the cityscape.
“This is all built for in-person collaboration,” Hoover, general manager of Facebook Reality Labs said. “All these buildings exist so we have a place to go every day to be in the same room together.”

Mayor Peduto: Facebook symbolizes Pittsburgh’s changing economy
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto on Thursday described Facebook’s new facility in the Strip District as a symbol of the city’s changing economy.
Peduto said high-tech companies along with the city’s educational and medical institutions have replaced the former industrial base that drove Pittsburgh markets for more than a century.
High-tech companies like Facebook are now generating hundreds of jobs across the city, he said

Facebook has been in Pittsburgh for five years but its recent expansion into the Strip District shows that it plans to grow.

RDC, Burns Scalo partner for $75M Strip District development
One of the Strip District's major new development projects is starting the new year with a new name and under a new joint venture.
After getting approved for the project by the Pittsburgh Planning Commission last May, Bridgeville-based RDC Inc. has decided to joint venture on its 275,000-square-foot mixed-use development slated for 15th and Smallman Streets with Green Tree-based Burns Scalo Real Estate, the two firms have announced.
