DIVISION OF KOMATSU - HOMER CITY ADDITIONS
RDC Design+Build provided design and construction services to complete several additions and upgrades to an operation/service center for Joy Underground Mining, LLC a division of Komatsu Corporation. The additions included one, 50’x100’, two 50’x50’, one 40’x60’, one 10’x70’, and one 16’x12’. All new additions connected to the existing manufacturing facility, extending overhead bridge crane runways more than 200’.
All work was completed without causing interference or shut-down with the 24/7/365 operation of Joy Underground Mining, LLC. RDC also extended 400amp and 600amp 3-phase electric bus duct system Electrical upgrades throughout the existing facility without disruption. Installed two new RTU’s on existing facility, and four new RTU’s on new additions. Added synthetic oil, hydraulic oil, antifreeze, oxygen, compressed air and natural gas drops for all new work cells. Eliminated structural columns at the interface to allow for proper crane pass-through. Installed new fire suppression lines upgraded the existing facility and new additions. Added 12,500 SF of 12” thick reinforced concrete pavement.
